The day started off with some sprinkles, but in the end, the sun showed up and it was a beautiful day for The Throwdown 2018, our annual charity cornhole tournament to benefit Cottonwood Institute!
Denver’s Union Station was the perfect setting for our corporate and competitive teams to battle it out. Although a total of 48 teams competed for 1st place, ultimately there could only be one winner from each bracket. Team Holed Your Horses from CoBiz Financial emerged victorious in the morning Corporate Bracket and the Giant Gingers were the victors of the afternoon Competitive Bracket.
Another big winner of the day was Tara Hosick, who won the luxury trip from Inspirato from our raffle, which was new this year! We are jealous because Tara will be sitting on a beach somewhere soon with views like this, but we wanted to thank everyone who stepped up to buy raffle tickets online to help support our programs!
So how much did we raise from The Throwdown? This year we raised just under $38,000, which is a new record! These funds will help continue to support our mission to connect underserved students to the outdoors! Finally, we wanted to give a huge shout out to all of our donors, sponsors, and volunteers who made this day possible. A special thank you to our friends at Great Divide Brewing Company, The Real Dill, Moe’s Bagels, Fluid Coffee Bar, Illegal Pete’s, Deep Eddy Vodka and White Lotus Therapeutics for keeping everyone fueled and feeling good during the event!
