We made some serious headway on our Action Project this week. On Tuesday, we started brainstorming ways we could address the pine beetle infestation issue in Boulder County. We made a list of possible projects that we would be able to tackle on October 13th, 2004. We slept on our list of solutions overnight and voted on Wednesday. It seemed at the time that pheromone baiting would be a sustainable way for land managers to address the pine beetle infestation issue. Female beetle pheromones are concentrated in one area of a forest to concentrate the impact. Then land managers go into the area and clear the area without having a major outbreak in other healthy areas.
