A Q&A! In early October, the students from the Centaurus High School CAP class spent two beautiful days in the mountains at Cheley Outpost. They made fires, cooked a feast, went on a night hike, learned about fire ecology, and did a service project.
Q&A (question and answer) with the students:
Q:What was the most fun part of the trip? ¿Qué fue lo más divertido del viaje? อะไรคือส่วนที่สนุกที่สุดของการเดินทาง?
Answers:
K.A.: Learning how to speak Thai at the campfire, making the dessert, making our tents, and making connections.
A.B.: The most fun part was when we were playing around the fire and we were screaming in Thai. Or when we were playing the rabbit game. Also when we made chocolate marshmallow banana boats, because mine was perfect and delicious and I shared it with Kevin and Clenzy.
A.L.: Vimos los árboles amarillos cuando las hojas están cayendo. Me sorprendió ver una huella de oso porque era muy grande. Y vimos pájaros, ardillas y ciervos.
Q: What surprised you about yourself? ¿Qué te sorprendió de ti? อะไรที่ทำให้คุณประหลาดใจเกี่ยวกับตัวเอง?
Answers:
A.B.: That I can have fun and I don’t really need to know the language or that I just need to try to understand so we can be one culture and one group.
E.C.: Que puedo pasar el tiempo sin el celular, porque nos quitaron el celular. Fue la primera vez que vi venados por que pasaron enfrente de nosotros.
Q: What were you apprehensive about before the trip? ¿Qué le preocupaba antes del viaje? สิ่งที่คุณวิตกกังวลก่อนการเดินทางคืออะไร?
Answers:
E.A.R.: Estar lejos de mi familia.
A.L: Me preocupaba que hiciera demasiado frío durante el viaje y que no tuviera suficientes abrigos y que no pudiera dormir toda la noche y también que no me gustara la comida que haríamos. Eso me preocupaba mucho.
Q: If your Present Self could talk to your Past (pre-trip) Self, what advice would you give Past Self? B.M.L.: No dudar en ir de viaje y no tener miedo. No preocuparse por viajar porque la señora Angel está segura de lo que hace. No tener miedo de probar cosas nuevas.
Q: If your Future Self could talk to your Present Self, what advice would it give you about trying new things? Answer:
A.L.: Fue muy bueno haber probado el camping y me divertí mucho. ¡Tú también puedes probarlo! No me imaginaba que iba a ser muy bonito aunque era mi primera vez pero me divertí mucho con todo con mis compañeros y los profesores.
J.P.: When trying new things just open up and not worry about what things will be like. When doing new things you just have to forget about criticism and just do it.
