CAP students are expected to broaden their outdoor knowledge and skill base by tapping into the rich educational resources in their community. In order to accomplish this goal, students will take advantage of the free outdoor skills clinics, workshops, and slide shows offered by outdoor retail stores in the Colorado Front Range. Below are some of the hot events going in the community this week:

Friday, December 12, 2003 – Level I Avalanche Course w/ Alpine World Ascents- Day 1 of 3, Mountain Sports, Boulder, 7pm. A must for anyone who likes to play in the winter backcountry! Level I Avalanche Course provides a complete introduction to the avalanche phenomenon, avalanche terrain, decision making, and rescue. This 3-day course is ideal for those new to travel in avalanche terrain and a great review or upgrade for those who have some experience or prior training by feel they need a skills “tune-up.” Level I is designed as a stand-alone course for back-country travelers; it also serves as the first step to the AAIRE Level II Course for those who wish to progress. Alpine World Ascents instructors are certified by the American Avalanche Institute for Research and Education (AAIRE). Space is limited.
