This morning our class watched an epic documentary called The Endurance, which recounted the attempt by Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew to complete the first crossing of the Antarctic continent in 1914. This expedition was quite possibly the most dramatic expedition in history; not because the crew accomplished fame and fortune, actually, they achieved neither in their lifetime. This expedition was so dramatic because during this expedition, Sir Ernest Shackleton demonstrated some of the most extraordinary leadership and decision making skills in the modern “heroic age of exploration.” After their ship became paralyzed by the ice pack, Shackleton
